Doreen  is a retired chartered accountant. Before she qualified, she was longline fishing and building houses, which required a Boat Skipper’s Licence and a Carpenters’ Union ticket. She even caused a strike on an overseas construction site because she was a woman. A visit to her doctor saw her taking up accounting because, ‘A woman’s body is not built for such heavy work.’ She qualified at the still youthful age of 51. While she was accounting, she built a sports car for relaxation, and recently wrote an article on the build, which was published
in two car magazines.
